100% Electric Standard and Crew Vans

Improving the environment, reducing air pollution and delivering lower running costs.

Project overview

Reducing carbon emissions from our commercial vehicle fleet is a key part of our responsible business approach and achieving our net-zero targets.

Understanding that our commercial vehicle fleet is one of our largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, we have committed to investing in several different electric vehicles to enhance our fleet.  These vehicles include commonly used crew and standard vans, which are used by our site teams to travel to and from work sites.

All our vehicles are fitted with tracker units, which enable the monitoring and measuring of vehicle performance, consumption rates, drive changes in driving habits, and improve awareness around reducing the impact of our largest carbon contributors.

The scheme’s main site compound is located halfway along the two-mile route. The project team needed to regularly visit the work site to undertake their work, so rather than using petrol or diesel vehicles, they wanted to explore electric alternatives to reduce their total carbon emissions for the project and generate fuel savings.

We’re looking to massively reduce our fuel consumption as a project and company. Having an EV van is a perfect way of doing this. Due to the location of the site compound to the main works, we’re able to get four to five days use from the van between each charge, which helps to reduce our carbon emissions on the project.

I’ve noticed several benefits, including gaining about two hours a week from not having to visit the garage to fill up, as well as better acceleration, which means I feel safer when re-joining the main carriageway from the works.
