Bedlington

The first stop after Ashington on the Northumberland Line is Bedlington station.

The project includes the installation of new twin platforms between Bedlington North Junction and Bedlington South level crossing, along with the construction of a new car park and access road. Additional improvements include a footpath, highway works, and signage to integrate the station with the surrounding area.

To facilitate access to the ‘down’ platform (south bound platform), a derelict building south of the station was demolished. The bricks from this building were preserved with some going to East Bedlington Parish Council for their restoration of the remaining station building at Bedlington, Hope Church in Bedlington as part of their garden restoration project, and the Woodhorn Narrow Gauge Railway in Ashington to help to rebuild their station at Woodhorn Museum.

The station is scheduled to open in early 2026.
