Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Section Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are executed according to the customer’s level and dimension requirements. The Section Engineer will provide engineering expertise, manage resources, and oversee technical aspects of site operations while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and understand drawings and specifications to ensure accurate project execution.
- Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team.
- Prepare risk assessments and method statements for the safe execution of works.
- Organize and supervise resources to meet contract program requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor work quality, identifying and addressing any issues promptly.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers, design teams, and supply chains.
- Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
- Ensure that construction documents contain accurate information and formally request missing details when needed.
- Coordinate with foremen and gangers to ensure a clear understanding of project information.
- Maintain comprehensive records of additional works and verbal instructions from clients.
- Ensure proper checking of setting out work and completion of inspection and test plans.
- Prepare four-week programs aligned with site schedules and ensure resource availability.
- Monitor progress and contribute to weekly site reviews.
- Keep detailed daily site diaries, recording changes, variations, and subcontractor activities.
- Order materials and maintain an accurate log of all procurement activities.
- Ensure that material testing and sampling comply with project specifications.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Strong knowledge of specifications and testing requirements in civil engineering.
- Hands-on experience with commercial and planning aspects of construction projects.
- Experience in civil engineering and construction site operations.
- Ability to produce and explain accurate plans and drawings.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Sound understanding of construction practices, industry standards, and project specifications.
