Communications Business Partner

We have an exciting opportunity for a communications business partner to join our business and be part of our communications team telling our Morgan Sindall Infrastructure story.

Our communication team is made up of trusted creators and advisors working in partnership with the business, the communication business partner is a key individual accountable for the creation and delivery of an annual communications plans for one of business units or functional areas.

 

The role is customer-focused (internal stakeholders), where stakeholder and relationship management are key to the successful delivery and achieving exceptional customer service. These are built through two key elements:

 

  • Key focus areas (stakeholders)

  • Working with your key focus areas (stakeholders), the individuals will build and embed themselves as an extended member of their key focus area teams, to understand their business areas, strategy and ambition.

  • They will become an expert for that area and advise/create, according to the plans and business position.

 

  • Key focus areas:

(SHEQ, strategic development, people, responsible business, engineering, project(s) and leadership teams.

 

  • Communications community

 

  • The communications business partner will work as part of a wider communications community, where they are able to provide connection with their plans.

  • Working in line with their communication plans they will ensure the correct resource is available and in place, liaising with the head of communications.

 

  • Their time should be planned and focussed towards key focus areas (stakeholders). They should be able to create a connection between the deliverables and the overall core messaging, with support provided by the head of communications.

 

Within the role, there will be a balance of strategic thinking and tactical delivery, working closely with the head of communications (and business unit leadership teams) on delivery plans, with additional support provided by the broader communications delivery roles.

The individual will be a creative, proactive, and resilient, they will be a forward thinker; with the ability to think strategic.

The communications team is here to enable the organisation to think and act as one internally and to connect our stakeholders with our business externally.

You will be part of telling the story about keeping the UK connected and will be able to experience some of the most technical, largest, and advanced infrastructure projects being delivered across the UK, with a wealth of opportunities and developments.

Previous experience in the construction and infrastructure sector is not required.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing the relationships with leadership teams and key focus areas leads SHEQ, strategic development, people, responsible business, engineering, project(s) – with support and guidance provided by the head of communications.

  • A proactive individual, who is ahead of their key stakeholders. Managing a schedule (two-way conversation) to ensure the communications strategy reflects their deliverables, but also challenging them on the request, ensuring the plans reflect and align with our overall messaging.
  • The communication business partner is the main point of contact for the key focus areas/ business unit.
  • Accountable for the delivery of an annual communications strategy – with direction provided by the head of communications.
  • Accountable for managing the upload and ongoing management of the communications plan deliverables in the provided system.
  • Ability to decipher the management of work, where it can be managed internally or externally.
  • Event planning and management skills – with the ability to create a connection with the event and the core messages of the business / business unit (internal awards, conferences, external facing events, to name a few).
  • Manage the creation and distribution of internal communications through multiple channels (All-hands, newsletters, lunch and learns podcasts, to name a few), with support provided, where necessary.
  • Manage client-equivalent relationships to ensure we are connected with their position and any client-led communications.
  • Work with the social media and digital creator to provide content for social media campaigns, that link back to our overall social media strategy.

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree or professional communications qualification (CIPR, CIM) with ideally five years of relevant experience in a communications team.
  • Track record of campaign or business partner experience and effective use of research and evaluation techniques.
  • Basic understanding of Creative Cloud Suite.
