About the project
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for one of the UK’s water companies. You will help to improve their water and waste water assets, ensuring the security of supply and reducing the risk of failure to old underperforming assets. You could work across multi-disciplinary projects and frameworks, typically in alliances and joint ventures.
What will you be doing
Providing and learning to deliver geotechnical and geo-environmental support to a range of projects.
Ground investigations will be a key aspect of the role, from working collaboratively with the design team to managing sites, setting out borehole locations, site visits, data gathering, logging and sampling, generating and reviewing reports.
You will need to be diligent in reviewing upfront desk study information including variations in ground conditions, ground water, old mining works, UXO, previous land uses as well as utility services with a focus on eliminating potential risks and hazards.
Elements of the role will include providing support on contaminated land issues as well as ground water, in an effort to reduce human and financial risk with ever changing legislation.
You will be working to the current standards and be expected to uphold the highest levels of health and safety ensuring tasks are completed safely and successfully whilst being able to challenge any unsafe practices.
A hands on approach to work is required with problem solving and unexpected challenges being commonplace. You should have good time management being able to work effectively to tight schedules.
What qualifications do I require
A degree in Geology / Geo-science or Civil Engineering at lower second or above
Ability to travel or drive to remote site locations if needed
Ideally some exposure to a construction/engineering environment. However, this is not essential
