Opportunity:
We have a fantastic opportunity within our Highways business unit for an ambitious and talented Environment and Industry Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator for Lower Thames Crossing
Role objective:
The objective of this role is to work alongside a team of stakeholder professionals to deliver effective technical engagement and consultation with the environmental and industry bodies that will be either directly or indirectly impacted by the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC).
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a 4-person team to deliver effective technical engagement and consultation with the environmental and industry bodies that will be most affected by the construction and operation of the LTC.
- Manage the relationship and build advocacy with some of the project's key environment and industry stakeholders, such as the Port of Tilbury, Port of London Authority, Forestry Commission, Kent Downs AONB, Essex and Kent Wildlife Trusts.
- Establish/maintain trusted channels of communication between our stakeholders and the project team, by acting as the voice of LTC to the external stakeholders and ensuring those stakeholders views are heard within LTC.
- Negotiate, document and capture agreements with stakeholders, summarising the agreed position in Statements of Common Ground with these key stakeholders to fully reflect agreements.
- Draft high quality, well written reports, presentations, documents and briefings for varied internal and external audiences, as required.
- Organise and deliver appropriate meetings, events and workshops to engage with environment stakeholders.
- Keep accurate, well written and timely records of all interactions between our stakeholders and LTC Project/stakeholder staff, ensuring LTC’s CRM systems are kept up to date, and that the information from those meetings is shared appropriately, both internally and with stakeholders. Ensure there is a robust audit trail of all engagement activity on the CRM system.
- Work with other External Affairs colleagues to support external stakeholder events, such as community roadshows, consultation events and other public engagement events, as required.
- Ensure programme and reporting information is provided to enable effective reporting.
Previous experience
- Experience of working in or closely with environment and/or other prominent stakeholders on infrastructure projects (essential)
- Experience of working in a stakeholder relations, customer and/or communications team (desirable)
- 5+ years relevant experience
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, and to identify, develop and maintain a strong network with those stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative. Well organised & able to plan and deliver a programme of events/activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to schedule work, deliver to tight deadlines, respond to changing situations.
- Understanding of the requirements associated with Development Consent Orders (desirable but not essential)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
