About the Apprenticeship

Our porgramme blends practical exposure to enhance your discipline specific abilities whilst enhancing your individual personal development during your early career.

About the project

Projects in the Nuclear sector cover a wide variety of scope from upgrading electrical distribution, bridge construction or pumping systems up to the construction of brand-new facilities that are of significant national importance. Working on these key frameworks there is a constant pipeline of projects that will challenge and develop your skills and provide the opportunity to excel and progress in your career.

What will you
be doing?

As a commercial apprentice you will work alongside an experienced graduate in order to develop your understanding of the construction process. As the lifecycle of a project progresses you will assist senior managers with the preparation of subcontract tender documents, analysis of the tender returns and subsequent preparation of subcontract documents for key supply chain packages. Once the subcontractors have commenced works, you will help with the management of these trades by measuring completed works and identifying and valuing any subcontract variations. This information, along with other project costs, can then be used to support the control and reporting of income and expenditure on the project and go on to establish the final cost, value & margin for the Project as a whole. Working alongside the construction team you will also develop your technical knowledge of subcontractors so that you can manage them more effectively.

What qualifications
do I require?

Five GCSE’s grades 9-4 (A*- C) including Math’s, English and a Science or Level 3 Apprenticeship. Minimum 6 grade in Math’s preferred.

Ability to travel to remote locations. Ideally some exposure to a construction/ engineering environment
